Zhengzhou, March 22 (China News Service / Kan Li) On March 22, a China-Europe freight train fully loaded with machinery, epidemic prevention supplies, garments and other commodities left Xinxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone of China for Liege of Belgium in Western Europe.
The official launch of the Xinxiang-Western Europe Route, another channelopened after the the Xinxiang-Central Asia Route, will further improve the radiation and influence of Xinxiang freight trains in Europe and regions along the Belt and Road, allowing more high-quality products to enter the global market.
The route marks the firstfreight train launched by Henan Zhongyu International Port Group (“Port Group”) to promote provincial-municipal cooperation and reshaping local advantages.
Henan ZhongyuInternational Port Group, previously known as Henan Materials Group Co., Ltd., was registered in March this year. The Port Group, along with other five restructured enterprises, officially went into operation that same month, reshaping the state-owned assets landscape in the province.
Sources with the Port Group said that, to build Henan’s main platform for opening up that runs eastward and westward, across land and over sea, it has given full play to four functions: resources integration, investment & construction, operation management and growth coordination. That would allow it to improve the weaknesses in ensuring coordinated development of the four “Silk Roads” (Silk Road in the air, Silk Road by land, maritime Silk Road and online Silk Road) to build a stronger industrial chain and supply chain economy in the province.
Achieving interconnected development of cities and regionsin the province through strengthened cooperation among them will help boost the province’s competiveness in opening up further to the rest of the world. All the China-Europe freight trains in Henan will be woven into a uniform network to generate centralized advantages, and accelerate the building of a highland for opening up in the province, thus playing a bigger role in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Xinxiang City, an important central city in northern Henan Province, is part of theCentral Plains Economic Region and the core of the central plains urban agglomeration. It is an important industrial base in the Central Plains, a national foreign trade (textile) transformation and upgrading base, and a demonstration cluster area for opening up in Henan Province.
According to the responsible person atHenan Zhongyu International Port Group Co., Ltd., they would leverage the location and transportation advantages of Xinxiang City to achieve complementary and coordinated development with Zhengzhou international land port. With that, they strive to establish a modern system of regional logistics combining hubs, passageways, network and commercial centers and ultimately, create an industry ecosystem that integrates international multimodal transport, international and domestic trade, information technology and rural revitalization.
The opening of Xinxiang-Western Europe Route of the China-Europe Railway Express has further improved the node function of Henan as an international logistics hub, said the responsible person. Going forward, the Port Group would work to increase the trips of Xinxiang-Western Europe Route, and seize the opportunities brought by RCEP implementation to expand the radiation and influence of Xinxiang-Western Europe Route in Europe, ASEAN and regions along the route.
