The topping-out ceremony for the Dongguan Biotech Industry Building, invested by Dongguan Biotech Industry Development Co., Ltd, was held successfully on July 5, signifying that Dongguan’s first biotech theme park will be soon completed to open up a new chapter in the development of the local biotech sector.
President Song Tao, General Manager Chen Weidong, and other managers of Dongguan Biotech Industry Development Co., Ltd, along with project representatives from China Merchants Shekou Holdings, Shenzhen Zhongrui Construction Engineering Group, and Guangdong Lida Construction Project Management Co., Ltd. (the project supervisor) attended the ceremony.
The Biotech Industry Building is a key project of Songshan Lake implemented to a high standard and with high efficiency. It is positioned as the enterprise center, display center, public service supporting center, business and exchange center, and government service center for the biotech industry at Songshan Lake High-Tech development Zone and Dongguan as a whole, as well as a specialized central park for the local biotech industry, said Song Tao.
The first phase project, covering 57,000 square meters, with a gross floorage of 160,000 square meters and a plot ratio of 1.5, is composed of six R&D office buildings and two storeys of underground garage, and due for delivery in mid-2024. The project will focus on biotech enterprises in such segments as biological medicine, medical apparatus and instruments, smart wearables, biological service, and biological information, and provide professional services throughout the enterprises’ life cycle.
In the presence of all guests, the Biotech Industry Building project was officially topped out with a final pour of concrete. “Since the start of construction, various tasks have been advancing quickly thanks to the support of the Songshan Lake Administrative Committee. The engineering team has overcome difficulties faced during the construction process and completed the constructions tasks according to a high standard”, said the relevant person in charge of the project.
In addition, preparatory work for the phase two project is also progressing in an orderly manner. The phase two project, scheduled to start in early 2024, plans to invest approximately 1.3 billion yuan in building the Biotech Industry Park across an area of 54,000 square meter of new type industrial land (M0),
According to the plan, Dongguan Biotech Industry Park will consist of four biomedical innovation plants, one exhibition & display center, two dorm buildings, and some small businesses. The two phases will be combined to build the central and specialized parks for the local biotech sector, create the new biotech industrial ecology, and serve as the gateway to Dongguan’s biotech industry.
