The 135th Canton Fair concluded in Guangzhou on May 5. As of May 4, the offline export transactions totaled 24.7 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.7 percent compared to the previous session. A record number of 246,000 overseas buyers from 215 countries and regions attended the Fair offline, an increase of 24.5% over the previous session.
The increasing popularity of this session has led to a significant increase in orders and a recovery in export transaction. Among them, emerging market merchants made vigorous transactions of 13.86 billion U.S. dollars with countries along the Belt and Road, an increase of 13% over last session. The unit price agreed with merchants from traditional European and American markets were high. Online platform transactions have become more active, realizing export transactions of 3.03 billion U.S. dollars, up 33.1%.
New products, new technologies, new materials, new processes and new ideas emerged in endless numbers, demonstrating the hard strength of "China's intelligent manufacturing" and injecting new vitality into the development of foreign trade. Over 1 million new products have been exhibited, and 334 launching shows for new products have been held during the 135th Canton Fair. More than 2.54 million exhibits have been listed to the online platform of the Canton Fair, including 660,000 new products, 100,000 smart products, 400,000 green and low-carbon products, and 210,000 products with independent intellectual property.
Meanwhile, the import exhibition has expanded new space for foreign enterprises. 680 enterprises from 50 countries and regions, of which 64% were from countries along the Belt and Road, attended the import exhibition this session.
408,000 foreign purchasers have participated in the session through the online platform, making 3.412 million visits to online stores of the platform.
Zhou Shanqing, Director of the News Center of the Canton Fair and Deputy Director of the China Foreign Trade Center, said that the 135th Canton Fair had innovated its mechanism, enriched its business format and expanded its functions in a successful, splendid and unforgettable manner, making positive contributions to promoting the quality and stability of foreign trade, promoting high-level opening-up, and building a new development pattern of services.
