On May 21, the Economic Promotion Coordination Mechanism of Dongguan City was officially launched. In the afternoon, the city held a ceremony to inaugurate the economic promotion coordination mechanism and a media exchange symposium. The event aimed to thoroughly implement the spirit of the Central Economic Work Conference and the national and provincial publicity ministers’ meetings, strengthen economic publicity guidance, and deepen the coordination between economic departments and mainstream media. The goal is to promote high-quality economic communication and strongly advocate for the bright future of China’s economy. The meeting was attended and addressed by Wu Yiting, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department; Liu Guangbin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor; and Xing Wenju, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor.
The meeting announced the official launch of the Economic Promotion Coordination Mechanism of Dongguan City and provided an interpretation of the mechanism.
The meeting highlighted that in recent years, Dongguan has focused on high-quality development driven by technological innovation, resulting in numerous impressive and vivid economic promotion reports. These efforts have transformed Dongguan’s economic image from the “World’s Factory” to a “Strong City in Technological Innovation,” creating a favorable public opinion environment for the city’s high-quality economic development.
The meeting emphasized that Dongguan is at a critical stage of transformation and upgrading, accelerating high-quality development. Relevant departments must work together to fully utilize the economic promotion coordination mechanism and effectively tell the story of Dongguan’s high-quality development. Economic departments should act as “lookouts” in economic promotion work, continuously improving media literacy and proactively providing information to the media. The publicity department should serve as a “bridge” and “link,” planning and coordinating economic news promotion, and collaborating with economic departments to leverage the strengths of various media resources, continuously building Dongguan’s economic news promotion IP. News media units should play the role of “tuning drum” and “weathervane,” accurately conducting policy promotion and interpretation, and effectively guiding hot topics.
The meeting stressed the importance of fully utilizing the economic promotion coordination mechanism. Government departments and media should work together, focusing on the main subjects, methods, and channels of promotion, highlighting the unique “Dongguan flavor,” finding small but significant angles, and telling small but impactful stories. Efforts should be made to uncover the economic highlights behind these stories, showcasing the responsibilities of large enterprises and the vitality of small businesses. Attention should be paid to the new characteristics, models, and markets of Dongguan’s foreign trade in the new era, balancing internal and external promotion, and effectively telling the stories of Dongguan entrepreneurs and high-quality development.
Representatives from 17 mainstream and well-known financial media outlets, including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Economic Daily, Nanfang Media Group, and Guangdong Radio and Television Station, attended the launch ceremony and provided suggestions on how to improve economic promotion work. Economic departments such as the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Donggan City, the Bureau of Commerce of Dongguan City, Dongguan Investment Promotion Bureau, and Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau reported on relevant situations and interacted enthusiastically with the media. Participants expressed that Dongguan’s current economic development is stabilizing and recovering, and the launch of the economic promotion coordination mechanism is timely, playing a significant role in promoting Dongguan’s industrial image and business environment. They also expressed their intention to fully absorb the meeting’s outcomes, enhance exchanges and interactions with various media, and work together to create a strong public opinion environment for Dongguan’s high-quality development.
