On August 28, HUAWEI Health held a press conference at Songshan Lake in Dongguan, officially launching the core technology brand “TruSense System,” marking another innovation in smart wearable devices.

New wearable devices equipped with the TruSense System to be released in September

Currently, Huawei has 11 years of experience in the smart wearable field, with over 150 million products shipped and more than 520 million registered users of its Health app. According to IDC data, in the first quarter of 2024, Huawei ranked first globally in wrist-worn wearable shipments and has led the Chinese market for five consecutive years.

“TruSense System is a major breakthrough for Huawei in the field of sports health monitoring and will continue to lead the direction of technological development. We are committed to using technology to help users establish a positive, scientific lifestyle,” said Zhang Wei, President of Huawei’s Smart Wearables and Sports Health Product Line, at the press conference.

With the growing global awareness of health, Huawei has integrated single-point monitoring technologies into a multi-dimensional sensing system, officially named the HUAWEI TruSense System. This system offers a brand-new health management experience with its six key features: accuracy, comprehensiveness, speed, flexibility, openness, and scalability.

Additionally, it was revealed at the press conference that Huawei will release new wearable devices equipped with the TruSense System in September.

According to the introduction, Huawei’s continuous investment in foundational research in optics, electronics, and materials has enabled the TruSense System to achieve higher accuracy and speed in monitoring vital signs data. It overcomes the impact of factors such as skin color, wrist size, and weather changes on data monitoring and has received authoritative industry certification for the monitoring of metrics such as heart rate, blood oxygen, and blood pressure.

In addition, the TruSense System has expanded its detection range to cover more than 60 monitoring indicators, supporting the monitoring of multiple health systems. By utilizing heart rate data and an autonomic nervous system sequence decomposition algorithm, the system can assess users’ emotional state and stress levels, helping them achieve both physical and mental well-being.

With its flexible, open, and scalable features, Huawei has already collaborated with more than 150 institutions to drive innovative research in remote medical care and home health management.

The TruSense System is backed by strong scientific research. In recent years, Huawei has established multiple sports health science laboratories in Xi’an, Shaanxi; Dongguan, Guangdong; and Helsinki, Finland.

Among them, Huawei’s Sports Health Science Laboratory in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, includes professional research areas, ecological joint development zones, and sports health scenario incubation zones, covering more than 80 professional testing capabilities. This provides support for the research, incubation, and testing of smart wearable hardware products, platform-level technologies, and digital health services. The laboratory was jointly built by the Songshan Lake Administration Committee, Huawei, the China Institute of Sports Science, and Vanke in 2020 and is currently the largest and most comprehensive professional laboratory in the national sports health field.

Songshan Lake has formed a unique sports and health industry ecosystem

In recent years, Songshan Lake has focused on “digital + sports,” driving industry transformation on all fronts and introducing favorable policies to support the digital transformation and development of the sports industry based on the current realities of the sector.

In December 2023, the Songshan Lake Administration Committee, Huawei, the China Institute of Sports Science, and the Science City Group signed the “Framework Agreement for the Joint Development of a Digital Sports Health Industry Innovation Application Demonstration Zone” at the “2023 Intelligent Sports and Sports Health Conference” in Beijing. With the Huawei Sports Health Science Laboratory as a leading point, they aim to establish a first-class sports health industry technology innovation platform in the South Lake Bay area of Songshan Lake, creating an influential digital sports health industry innovation application demonstration zone.

Recently, Songshan Lake issued the “Dongguan Songshan Lake High-Tech Industry Development Zone Sports and Health Industry Development Action Plan” (referred to as the “Action Plan”). The Action Plan clearly states that Songshan Lake will focus on “technological innovation + advanced manufacturing” as its main theme, concentrating on the sports and health sector to build an ecosystem for the sports and health industry. It will establish an advanced industry cluster led by digital sports and health and create a globally leading hub for sports and health technology innovation.

According to the development goals outlined in the Action Plan, by 2027, the sports and health industry in Songshan Lake will achieve five major breakthroughs: the scale of industrial aggregation will continue to expand, the brand effect of the industry will be significantly enhanced, the atmosphere of sports and fitness will become more vibrant, the construction of sports and health scenarios will be increasingly improved, and the innovation capacity of technological talent will continue to grow.

Songshan Lake has already formed a unique sports and health industry ecosystem with competitive advantages, attracting a number of companies related to sports and health, including Huawei Terminal, COROS, Hailex New Materials, Stronger Sports Technology, FILA, KOOLARA, Aidong Sports, and ASH Sports. Additionally, it hosts labs such as the JianShan Running Science Laboratory and the ASH Skateboarding Research Center, creating a strong “magnetic effect” of industrial clustering.
