November 13 witnessed the opening of the 20th Government and Japanese-funded Enterprises Meeting. The meeting aimed to further strengthen communication and cooperation between Dongguan and Japanese-funded enterprises in Dongguan, and boost the confidence of Japanese businesses to take root in Dongguan for development. Xing Wenju, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor, and Kijima Yoshiko, the Consul General of Japan in Guangzhou attended and addressed the meeting. Mo Wojia, Deputy Secretary General of the Municipal Government, presided over the meeting. About 100 officials and enterprise representatives attended the meeting, including Okada Eiji, director general of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Guangzhou, Zhang Jianliang, director general of the Bureau of Commerce of Dongguan City, responsible personnel from towns and subdistricts, as well as staff from Japanese-funded enterprises in Dongguan.
According to Xing Wenju, Dongguan has always been maintaining close economic exchanges with Japan. Nearly 400 Japanese-funded enterprises in Dongguan uphold the principle of putting the real economy first and manufacturing at the forefront. They took root in multiple important areas of manufacturing in Dongguan, making important contributions to the economic and social development of Dongguan. They are an indispensable force for the high-quality development of Dongguan’s economy. Dongguan will continue to focus on improving services for foreign-funded enterprises. Adhere to the principle of “all for the enterprises”, Dongguan will increase services and guarantees for enterprises with new measures, introduce and implement more precise and effective policy measures, concentrate departmental efforts to timely solve the bottlenecks and difficulties encountered by foreign-funded enterprises, and continuously optimize the foreign investment environment in our city. At the same time, we hope that Japanese-funded enterprises can fully leverage their own advantages and combine Dongguan’s strong industrial foundation with Japanese technology and management experience to achieve development with higher quality and at deeper level.
According to Kijima Yoshiko, Dongguan is located in the center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the importance of investment is increasingly prominent. There are many opportunities and possibilities for future development. The Government and Japanese-funded Enterprise Meeting provides a very important communication platform. She believed that with the strong support and thoughtful guarantee of the Dongguan government, Japanese-funded enterprises in Dongguan will achieve sound development. She hoped to continue promoting exchanges and cooperation with Dongguan to achieve common development.
At the meeting, Director General Zhang Jianliang introduced new policies supporting the utilization of foreign investment at the provincial and municipal levels. General Manager Matsui of Dongguan Alps Electronics Co., Ltd., and General Manager Ikeda of NSK Dongguan Automotive Technology Co., Ltd., respectively introduced their development history, development in Dongguan, and future development direction. In addition, officials from several government organs replied to questions raised by Japanese-funded enterprises concerning decarbonization incentive policies, unit price of electricity charges, large-scale equipment updates, individual income tax preferences, combating infringement and counterfeiting, and safeguarding foreigners’ safety.
According to statistics, most Japanese-funded enterprises in Dongguan are engaging in manufacturing of resistance, capacitance and inductance components, other power transmission and distribution and control equipment, automotive parts and accessories, television, photocopying and offset printing equipment. Cumulatively, a foreign investment of 5.45 billion US dollars has been utilized.
