On March 10, the Dongguan Daily Media High-Quality Development Promotion Conference was held to thoroughly implement the spirit of the provincial and municipal high-quality development conferences, convey and study the spirit of the city’s publicity, ideological, and cultural work meeting, summarize the work of 2024, and outline the tasks for 2025. Wu Yiting, a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and the Minister of the Publicity Department, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zhang Shujian, Secretary of the Party Committee, Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, along with relevant leaders from the Municipal Publicity Department, the newspaper’s leadership team, middle-level cadres, and employee representatives attended the meeting.

The meeting pointed out that in 2024, Dongguan Daily focused on the central tasks and served the overall situation, achieving significant results in theme promotion, public opinion guidance, integration and innovation, and public service. These efforts created a positive public opinion atmosphere, supporting Dongguan’s acceleration of high-quality development.
The meeting emphasized that in advancing the new journey, it is essential to uphold the principles of integrity and innovation, strengthen the main front of news publicity, and make the main theme louder and the positive energy stronger. It is necessary to maintain an inward focus, tackle the systemic reform of mainstream media, use scientific methods to push forward reforms, accelerate the establishment of a work mechanism that adapts to the production and dissemination of all-media content, and fully integrate advanced technology into every aspect of newspaper management and production. It is important to continue deepening market cultivation, build differentiated competitiveness, take full advantage of Dongguan’s absolute advantage as a major economic city, and convert the influence of mainstream media into competitive strength. The meeting also stressed the need to break boundaries and expand the overall communication network, make full use of and operate the municipal-level integrated media technology platform, and establish a collaborative development mechanism that is connected and shared across all levels. I. Enhance the quality of Party building work. Party building initiatives should take the lead in advancing standardized, professionalized, intelligentized, and refined management practices, leveraging high-caliber Party leadership to propel the high-quality development of the press industry.

V. Enhance the management of resources, funds, and assets. Optimize capital allocation, revitalize underutilized funds, and increase returns on capital investments to ensure the preservation and appreciation of the group’s resources, assets, and financial holdings.
VI. Creatively enhance the operation of the newspaper industry. Strive to strengthen and cultivate leading enterprises in the industry. Businesses such as large media, large culture, large education, and large advertising have taken shape, forming brands and achieving good results. There have been new breakthroughs in expanding new tracks, new business models, and new customers.
VII. Promote media technology innovation. With the city’s integrated media technology platform as support, strengthen and effectively utilize the newspaper industry’s integrated media ecosystem. Promote the widespread application of new technologies like AI across all aspects of administrative, operational, and management functions, as well as in news gathering, production, distribution, reception, and feedback. These technologies will play an active role in improving quality, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring security, leading the newspaper industry’s work to new heights.
VIII. Promote deep transformation of all employees. Reform the system for selecting, employing, training, and retaining talent, guiding all employees to consciously learn and improve their capabilities. Focus on building a team that is politically strong, professionally skilled, practical, innovative, capable of achieving success, and highly qualified with a specialization in all-media operations, forming a versatile, elite special forces unit.
IX. Promote institutional and mechanism reforms. Consolidate the achievements of cultural system reforms, improve management systems and mechanisms, and drive the systematic reform of mainstream media to achieve deep integration and high-quality development.
