On April 17, Lyu Chengxi, Mayor of Dongguan and Deputy Secretary of CPC Dongguan Committee, visited 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) to investigate Dongguan exhibitors. He emphasized that it is essential to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions regarding Guangdong, earnestly carry out the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and make full use of the Canton Fair platform to connect domestic and international markets. Efforts will be made to fully support enterprises in seeking business opportunities, stabilizing orders, and expanding markets, helping more “Made in Dongguan” products go global, and empowering high-quality economic development through high-level opening-up. Vice Mayor Li Hui and Secretary-General of the Municipal Government Yan Jizong attended the event.

Lyu Chengxi visited the exhibition booths of companies including Tailg, UNI-T, Greenway, Roaman, Bidisco Electric, Fumeikang, JHS Electrical, Doni Robotics, and Jinconn New Materials. He engaged in in-depth discussions with on-site managers to gain detailed insights into their technological innovation, R&D, production processes, market expansion efforts, and foreign trade orders. Lyu encouraged the enterprises to actively adapt to new trends and challenges in the global trade environment, proactively integrate into the dual circulation of domestic and international markets, steadfastly pursue an innovation-driven development strategy, and expand their reach into broader markets with high-quality products and services.

Lyu Chengxi emphasized that the Canton Fair, serving as a “bellwether” and “barometer” of global trade, should be leveraged to identify emerging trends in industrial development, fully harness its resource aggregation capabilities, and assist enterprises in consolidating and expanding overseas markets. He urged innovative mechanisms to “use exhibitions to spur consumption” and “attract investment through exhibitions,” calling for meticulously organized activities such as business tours, industry matchmaking, and promotional campaigns to draw global buyers to Dongguan for visits, tourism, consumption, and investment. This would transform the Canton Fair’s visitor traffic into tangible growth in consumption and capital inflows. Furthermore, Lyu stressed the need to drive synergistic development across the industrial chain’s upstream and downstream sectors, improve regularized supply-demand matching platforms, and strengthen the leadership role of “anchor enterprises” to foster innovation collaboration and production coordination between large, medium, and small businesses. This would elevate the value of the entire industrial chain. He also highlighted the importance of continuously optimizing talent policies and enhancing financial service offerings to bolster enterprises’ market competitiveness.

It is learned that the 137th Canton Fair is held in Guangzhou from April 15 to May 5, with 458 enterprises from Dongguan participating and occupying over 950 exhibition booths. Among them, 227 companies—representing 49.6% of the total—are engaged in advanced manufacturing and scientific innovation industries, including high-tech firms, specialized and sophisticated “little giant” enterprises, and single-product champions.
