On April 23, 2025, during the Dongguan Artificial Intelligence Industry High-Quality Development Conference, the launch ceremony of the Greater Bay Area (Dongguan) Artificial Intelligence Alliance and the signing ceremony for council member institutions were held simultaneously.
18 organizations, including Huawei, vivo, OPPO, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Tower, Kaipuyun, Wenyi Group, Dongguan Communications Investment Group, Dongguan Digital Group, Great Bay University, Dongguan University of Technology, City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), the Fifth Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Pazhou Lab, Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing, GDAS, and Dongguan New Generation Artificial Intelligence Industrial Technology Research Institute, signed agreements under the witness of attendees, marking the official establishment of the alliance.
The Greater Bay Area (Dongguan) Artificial Intelligence Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the “Alliance”) was established with strong support and guidance from the People’s Government of Dongguan Municipality. It aims to leverage the artificial intelligence application demonstration base to integrate industrial chain resources, drive innovation and application of AI sector and technologies, enhance industry collaboration and competitiveness, build an ecosystem for multi-party cooperation across industries, research, and technology, and create an effective platform for technological innovation and application promotion.
The Alliance will be co-chaired by Huawei, OPPO, and vivo on a rotating basis, with over 60 key enterprises and institutions in the AI field as founding members. These entities span cutting-edge research and industrial frontline operations, covering all critical segments of the AI industrial chain.
Zhang Xiuzheng, president of Huawei Cloud China, delivered a speech as a representative of the rotating chair units. He stated that as AI technology rapidly advances, it is reshaping the global future. Enterprises must address challenges through collaboration and pursue development through innovation. The Alliance will serve as a bridge for deep integration between industry and research, fostering an open and win-win innovation ecosystem. As one of the first rotating chair units, Huawei pledged to fully leverage its technological and resource advantages to support the Alliance’s growth. He also called on the industry to open up AI application scenarios and inject innovative momentum and talent vitality into Dongguan’s AI industry through a model of “co-construction, co-creation, and sharing”.
The Alliance aims to promote technological innovation and application by establishing technology exchange platforms and organizing technical events, addressing industry “bottleneck” challenges. It will also deepen cooperation with leading global universities, research institutes, and enterprises to accelerate technology commercialization and industrial transformation. Additionally, it plans to cultivate high-end talents through joint training and exchanges to meet industry demands.
The Alliance will actively advance AI technological innovation, improve technology and product quality, break down data silos to enable data sharing, strengthen talent exchanges and cross-domain collaboration, and build a win-win mechanism for deep cooperation across the entire industrial chain, thereby injecting new momentum into the AI sector.
