In the height of summer, all things flourish. July 30 witnessed the opening of the event Canton Fair’s Sourcing Trip to Dongguan Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Bases of Guangdong (Art Toys, Furniture and Electronics & Information Technology). Representatives from over 20 top purchasing companies from Denmark, Germany, the US, Japan, Australia, and other countries participated in targeted matchmaking sessions with more than 90 quality enterprises from Dongguan. This marks the second time Canton Fair’s leading multinational buyers have visited Dongguan, following their successful trips to bases in Dalang and Songshan Lake last December.

Reporters learned on-site that among these over 20 leading purchasing companies were Japan’s top home furnishing chain Nitori and Denmark’s high-end home furnishing group F&H. They came with specific purchasing needs and serious intent. The active participation of these top global buyers fully demonstrates the core strengths and enduring appeal of Chinese manufacturing in the global market. It also signals the international community’s firm confidence in the resilience and growth potential of the Chinese economy.

Jani Dhruv from India, head of an Indian trading company, has visited Dongguan multiple times before. His company primarily sources furniture and home decor products from China, which remains one of its main supply sources. He endorsed this event, stating it offered far more effective insight into a supplier’s scale and capabilities than online interactions or brief meetings. “The purpose of this trip is to find reliable factories for long-term partnerships, discover new products, technologies, and ideas in the home furnishings sector, and bring cutting-edge information back to our clients,” Jani Dhruv told reporters. During his visits to Dongguan factories, he was impressed by their new technologies, innovative applications, production capabilities, and product innovation. Having already visited two factories, he is now awaiting quotations and will recommend suitable ones to his clients after evaluation.

Michael Jensen from Denmark’s F&H Group expressed great anticipation for the exchange session of the event. With extensive experience collaborating with Dongguan factories in the home furnishing and kitchenware sector, he and his team came to Dongguan seeking manufacturers for their company’s toy IP. “Our core reason for choosing Dongguan manufacturing is its stable and high-quality production,” Michael told reporters. “Other places may offer cheaper products, but considering product quality and design capability, we chose Dongguan. We hope this event will help us find suitable partners.”

Suppliers participating in this event were all outstanding enterprises carefully selected by local commerce authorities, renowned for their strong credibility, high cost-performance products, and competitive strength. Guangdong Hayidai Toys Co., Ltd. exemplifies this group, having secured a spot on the 2025-2026 National Key Cultural Export Enterprise List due to its exceptional performance in cultural product innovation and international market expansion. A company representative told reporters that Hayidai aims to connect with large foreign corporations through this event to explore product collaboration opportunities while promoting its own brand. The goal is to introduce Dongguan-original art toys  to global markets, with Hayidai already holding productive discussions with corporate groups from Hong Kong and Denmark.

Following over two hours of negotiations, some suppliers and buyers reached preliminary cooperation agreements. On-site signings were conducted between Saudi Arabia’s SACO Company and Dongguan Loveliving Furniture Co., Ltd., U.S.-based Far East Brokers and Dongguan Shiny Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd., as well as Portugal’s United Import & Export Company and Dongguan Bidisco Electric Co., Ltd.

This event not only marks the deep integration of the Canton Fair’s “trade bridge” brand in Dongguan, but also vividly reflects Dongguan’s foreign trade efforts to achieve breakthroughs through hard work and pursue development through innovation. The event enabled a precise connection between global procurement resources and Dongguan’s industrial strengths. It also underscored the strong momentum behind Dongguan’s high-quality foreign trade development, as evidenced by the city’s record-breaking 749.28 billion yuan in imports and exports in the first half of the year—a historic high for the same period.

It is reported that Dongguan will continue to host high-quality “trade bridge” events and officially launched the “Trade for the Future Event Season” on the same afternoon. From August to October, Dongguan plans to hold no fewer than 30 events across the city, striving for “major events every month, targeted matchmaking every week,” building a robust bridge to the global market for more of Dongguan’s high-quality enterprises.
