On the afternoon of September 10, the 2025 Dongguan “Haizhi Program” Project Matchmaking Session (Hong Kong and Macao Special Session), organized by Dongguan Association for Science and Technology and hosted by Dongguan International Technology Transfer Center, was successfully held at the Songshan Lake International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community. With the theme of “Collaborative Innovation in Science and Technology between Dongguan, Hong Kong, and Macao”, the event focused on frontier fields such as new energy and new materials. It attracted more than 70 participants, including high-tech project teams from Hong Kong and Macao, as well as representatives from Dongguan-based enterprises, investment institutions, and research institutes.

In his opening remarks, Wu Xinguo, Director of Dongguan International Technology Transfer Center, reviewed the Center’s achievements since its establishment in April 2019. As a comprehensive municipal-level technology service platform supported by Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau, the Center has built regular liaison mechanisms with more than 50 innovation institutions from over 20 countries and regions, registered hundreds of high-quality technology projects, created 17 cross-border cooperation platforms, and hosted over 100 technology exchange events. In particular, in terms of cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao, the Center has in recent years recommended around 160 high-quality projects from the two regions to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions such as the “Songhu Cup” and “Maker in Guangdong”, successfully promoting the industrialization of six Hong Kong and Macao high-tech projects in Dongguan. Wu emphasized that this matchmaking session was an important step in advancing cross-border technology integration and deepening Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao innovation cooperation. He added that the Center would continue to provide strong support for collaborative innovation between Dongguan, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The event was results-oriented and closely aligned with the development needs of technology enterprises. During the roadshow segment, company representatives gave in-depth presentations on core technological breakthroughs, innovative business models, financing stages, and cooperation needs. Liu Xiaorui, CEO of Sufang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., showcased the world’s first “ultra-low voltage decay lithium-rich manganese-based cathode material”. Using localized structure-pinning technology, the material effectively solves the long-standing problem of voltage decay in lithium-rich manganese-based cathodes. It boasts a capacity of over 280 mAh/g, with voltage decay of less than 0.5 mV after 300 cycles, making it particularly suitable for solid-state batteries, power batteries, and high-energy-density consumer electronics. The project is led by Professor Liu Qi of City University of Hong Kong. The team has filed 12 invention patents, built a 300-tonne pilot production line, and delivered samples to leading enterprises such as CATL and ATL, while actively advancing plans for large-scale production in the thousand-tonne range.

Tang Zijie, CEO of AmaZinc Energy, introduced the “high-safety & high-rate zinc-based battery” project. This water-based zinc-ion battery offers inherent safety, environmental friendliness, easy recyclability, and high power density. It has a cycle life of more than 20,000 times, retains 90% of capacity at -40°C, and supports five-minute fast charging. Tang noted, “Our products are now widely used in high-safety-demand scenarios such as UPS backup power for data centers, telecom base stations, and petrochemical facilities. We have developed a full range of UPS product lines and obtained multiple international certifications and patents”.

Investors at the session engaged in lively discussions, posing incisive questions about technological advantages, application scenarios, market prospects, and financial planning. They also offered constructive suggestions from an investment perspective, creating a dynamic atmosphere of exchange and interaction.

Previously, Dongguan International Technology Transfer Center has been recognized as an “Outstanding Station” under the Haizi Program of Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, rated as an A-level operator of municipal science and technology enterprise incubation carriers, and selected as a service center under “Innovation China” - “Innovation Guangdong”. The Center has also initiated the establishment of the China-Latin America and Caribbean Technology Transfer Center entity and the Guangdong Association for the Promotion of Technology Achievement Transformation, while setting up the “Dongguan Foreign Friends Club” and the “Dongguan Tsinghua Alumni Association”. In addition, it has attracted overseas experts and talents, and organized a wide range of international exchange activities, including the China-Dongguan City Promotion Event (Moscow Station), the China (Dongguan) - UK Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Matchmaking Session, a science and technology delegation to Japan, the Lantern Festival Exchange for high-level talents from overseas, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as talent and community exchange activities with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese youth in Dongcheng.
