The project, a major municipal-level initiative by Glorystar Laser for its headquarters and capacity expansion, is steadily advancing toward its target of being completed and operational by December next year. Having secured the land in November last year and broken ground this March, the first building is expected to be topped out by November.

Invested and developed by Dongguan Glorystar Laser Technology Co., Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as “Glorystar Laser”), the project will establish an intelligent, smart, and green high-end laser smart manufacturing base upon completion. Once operational, it is projected to achieve an annual output value of 500 million yuan. This will not only enhance the company’s production capacity and market competitiveness and further promote the development of Dongcheng Subdistrict’s laser industry but also inject strong momentum into the high-quality economic growth of Dongcheng.

First building expected to top out by late November

On September 27, reporters visited the site of the Glorystar Laser Headquarters and Expansion Project. Located on Jinyuling Road in Sangyuan, Dongcheng Subdistrict, the project has a total investment of 358 million yuan and covers more than 29 mu (about 19,000 square meters). It is set to become a laser industry base focused on the research, development, production, and sales of laser cutting machines, precision laser welding machines, laser cladding machines, and automated production lines.

It is reported that the project primarily consists of three buildings, with Factory Buildings 1 and 2 each rising 7 stories, and the 3rd apartment building reaching 11 stories.

With support from the Municipal Development and Reform Bureau (Municipal Major Projects Office), the Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources, and other relevant departments, as well as Dongcheng Subdistrict, issues related to preliminary procedures and resource guarantees have been coordinated and resolved through measures such as early involvement, parallel approvals, and tolerance for missing documents. This has significantly shortened the timeline from project signing to construction launch, and further to inspection and operation. “Currently, the third-floor slab of Factory Building 1 has been poured, the first-floor columns of Factory Building 2 are completed, and the ninth floor of the apartment building has been poured. In addition, the basement roof slab has been fully poured,” said Su Huayu, head of the Glorystar Laser Headquarters and Capacity Expansion Project. He added that, based on the current construction progress, the first building—the apartment building—is projected to be topped out by the end of November.

Long-term plan to build an integrated platform for “headquarters + intelligent manufacturing + services”

Dongguan Glorystar Laser Technology Co., Ltd., founded in 2010, is a national high-tech enterprise. For years, the company has consistently focused on laser application solutions, with its laser cutting techniques, overall machine design capabilities, and technology leading the industry. Leveraging exceptional innovation and technological strength, Glorystar Laser has received numerous honors, including the National Little Giant specialist SME, Guangdong High-Tech Product, Guangdong Famous Brand Product, Top 100 Manufacturing Enterprise in Guangdong, and Dongguan Outstanding Enterprise.

What’s more, Glorystar Laser has long engaged in industry-academia-research collaboration with several universities, including Peking University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jinan University, Guangdong University of Technology, Nanyang Institute of Technology, and City College of Dongguan University of Technology. The company has also established a Laser Application Research Institute and an Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, conducting in-depth research on laser and smart manufacturing applications. These efforts have built a solid technological foundation and stored momentum for sustained business expansion.

At the project’s groundbreaking ceremony, Yin Desheng, Deputy General Manager and Director of Dongguan Glorystar Laser Technology Co., Ltd., stated, “The Glorystar Laser Headquarters and Capacity Expansion Project holds profound strategic significance for us—it marks a milestone in Glorystar Laser’s journey toward building an international brand.”

To this end, the project has adopted higher construction standards. The first story of Factory Buildings 1 and 2 reaches 11 meters in height, while stories 2–7 are 7.8 meters high, equipped with overhead crane systems capable of supporting crane operations or two-level usage. Factory Building 1 will be outfitted with multiple elevators with load capacities of 5, 8, 12, and 15 tons. The 3rd apartment building will adopt hotel-style management, with the first floor featuring approximately 1,000 square meters of retail space to meet employees’ daily needs. “The story heights in our project are quite rare among industrial parks across Dongguan,” Su Huayu told the reporters.

Simultaneously, the project has been planned with short-, medium-, and long-term objectives. Short-term: Break through production capacity bottlenecks to meet growing domestic and international demand for high-power laser cutting equipment, particularly in sectors such as new energy and semiconductors. Medium-term: Establish an R&D headquarters focused on breakthroughs in digital and automated technologies for laser intelligent equipment (e.g., AI vision + laser composite processing). Long-term: Build an integrated “headquarters + smart manufacturing + services” platform to support the company’s transition from an equipment supplier to an ecosystem operator for laser applications.

Driving the upgrade of Dongcheng’s laser industry

In recent years, Dongcheng Subdistrict has leveraged the city’s distinctive emphasis on “technological innovation + advanced manufacturing” and closely aligned with its development goals of “New City, New Industries, and New Ecology.” By prioritizing project execution, strengthening resource support, and delivering high-quality services, the subdistrict has accelerated project completion and operationalization, thereby fostering sustained momentum for high-quality economic growth.

Su Huayu stated that the Dongcheng Glorystar Laser Headquarters and Capacity Expansion Project is expected to be completed and operational by December 2026. “Upon commissioning, the project will introduce intelligent production lines and R&D centers, driving the upgrade of Dongcheng’s laser industry from ‘processing and assembly’ to ‘technology-intensive.’ As one of the core platforms for Dongcheng’s laser sector, the project will also attract upstream and downstream enterprises—such as optical component and control system suppliers—to cluster in the area, strengthening the regional industrial chain. Meanwhile, the establishment of the project’s headquarters functions will further promote the aggregation of high-end talent and facilitate technology collaboration and joint R&D initiatives with local small and medium-sized enterprises.”
