The First China International Nuclear Technology Application Industry Conference Inaugurated in Dongguan
Build an International Dialogue and Industrial Docking Platform
Recently, the first China International Nuclear Technology Application Industry Conference with the theme of “Nuclear Technology for the Benefit of Mankind” was opened at the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center in Houjie, Dongguan. The conference lasted for 4 days and was jointly organized by China Nuclear Energy Association and International Radiation Association. The conference is committed to building an international high-end dialogue and industry docking platform, exchanges the latest developments information in industry development, discusses innovative development models, establishes cooperation and win-win partnerships, and promotes the application of nuclear technology and its outstanding value of improving the environment and benefiting people's livelihood.
Yu Jianfeng, chairperson of the China Nuclear Energy Association and chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation, attended the opening ceremony and delivered an opening speech. Wang Yiren, former deputy director of the China Atomic Energy Authority, Malavasi, deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Paul Wayne, secretary general of the International Irradiation Association (IIA), and Wang Naiyan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the opening ceremony and give a speech. The conference also invited nearly 50 industry-authorized experts and entrepreneurs from R&D institutions and enterprises of more than ten countries including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam to share advanced technologies and successful experience, explore development trends, and discuss the core technologies and key paths to promote the scale development of industrialization.
The journalist learned from the meeting that China’s civil nuclear technology (radiation science and technology) is a strategic emerging industry in China. Since the industrialization stage in the 1990s, the development speed has been fast, and the annual output value has exceeded RMB300 billion with annual growth rate was kept at around 20%. At present, radiation science and technology have been widely used in various fields such as industries, agriculture, medical care, environmental protection and national security, and it has achieved good economic and social benefits.
Relevant responsible person of China Nuclear Energy Association suggested that the Pearl River Delta is a relatively developed area for China’s nuclear technology application industry. As one of the most economically active cities in this region, Dongguan has achieved remarkable results in industrial transformation and upgrading in recent years, which was best proved by scientific facilities and well-known enterprises that settled in Dongguan such as spallation neutron source and Huawei town. In the future, along with the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Dongguan will usher in new development opportunities combined with location advantages and international development strategy. As an emerging high-tech industry, nuclear technology has promising industrial prospects and huge market potential, especially in the fields of high-end medical care and environmental protection and energy conservation. Given this, the conference was chosen to be held in Dongguan, hoping to combine with the local economic and industrial development strategy. And jointly build a high-end international communication and cooperation platform that integrates government, industry, university and research.
